The Royal Mexican Players were created in Houston in 2004. Early members include Alvaro Saar Rios, Michelle Lopez-Rios, Ezequiel Guerra Jr, Lupe Mendez and Chris Rivera.
Dubbing themselves “Houston’s brownest performance troupe,” the all Latino performance troupe make their professional debut with The Royal Mexican Players present The Crazy Mexican Show at Houston’s cultural arts center M.E.C.A.(Multicultural Education and Counseling through the Arts) in the spring of 2004.
Since their successful debut, The Royal Mexican Players have presented work and/or workshops at Clarkson University, Texas A&M, Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, Talento Bilingüe de Houston, Association for Theatre in Higher Education Conference, Voice & Speech Teachers Association Conference, Texas Thespians Festival, KCACTF (Region III), Milwaukee’s United Community Center, Houston Community College, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Milwaukee Chamber Theater.
